Welcome to the home page of the Coast Guard Auxiliary District 13. As part of Team Coast Guard, the over 1,700 men and women of District 13 serve the states of Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Montana.
In 1939 Congress created the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary to serve as the civilian, uniformed non-military component of the Coast Guard. The Coast Guard Auxiliary is composed of over 30,000 men and women civilian volunteers donating tens of thousands of hours doing Vessel Safety Checks, Public Education Courses, Search and Rescue, Maritime Domain Awareness operations and Marine Safety. We assist the United States Coast Guard in all its functions except direct Law Enforcement and Military missions. We volunteer in the community, on the water and in the air ensuring Boating Safety and Public Awareness of the marine environment. The results of these efforts save taxpayers hundreds of millions of dollars every year.
